After their super hit combo in critically acclaimed Thanmatra (2005) and Bhramaram (2009), superstar Mohanlal and talented Blessy are coming together for the third time.

It is about a yesteryear love story of three characters: Mohanlal, Jayapradha and acclaimed Bollywood actor Anupam Kher (who makes his debut in Malayalam). Debutant Satish Kurup will crank the camera. M. Jayachandran will set music to lyrics penned by ONV.
As well as directed by award winning director Blessey will be Mohanlal's this year's Onam release.Apart from Mohanlal, Pranayam also features Anupam Kher and Jayaprada in the lead roles and it is all about an unusual romantic affair between an aged couple.
Earlier reported that Mohanlal's high budget film Casanova will be his Onam release, but due to some issues, shooting of this film was called off and later Mohanlal's Priyadarshan movie, Arabiyum Ottakavum P Madhavan Nairum was scheduled to be the Onam release. It also got shifted and then everyone decided to make Mohanlal's Sathyan Anthikkad film as his big Onam release, but it too was later shifted from being our lalettan's Onam release.
But it was then Blessey come up with his Pranayam as our lalettan's Onam release.
