After the mega hit Mankatha, ultimate star Ajith Kumar kick starts his next venture Billa 2, a prequel to Billa 2007.
Suresh Balaje, son of legendary film maker K Balaje who produced the original Billa with Rajinikanth, produces Billa 2 under the banner of Wide Angle Creations. Chakri Toleti of Unnaipol Oruvan fame is directing the movie.
Parvathy Omanakuttan, who was crowned Miss India World in 2008 and Bollywood actress Bruna Abdullah are the female leads and both make their Tamil Movie Industry debut with Billa 2.
Billa 2 is all about the transformations from David (an ordinary man from Thoothukudi in South Tamil Nadu) to Billa (a dreaded underworld don). Prabhu, Raghuman and most of the other cast of Billa (2007) will play the same respective roles in Billa 2 as well.
The villain of John Abraham starrer Force, Vidyut Jamwal, is playing the baddie in Billa 2. Krishnakumar, Sudhanshu Pandey & Manoj K. Jayan are also in pivotal roles.
Ajith Kumar has trimmed his body as the story demands him to look like a 20 year old youngster. Filming will take place at locations including Hyderabad, Goa, Pondicherry, East Europe and Thailand.
Earlier, the Billa 2007 team, including director Vishnuvardhan and Cinematographer Nirav Sha were supposed to do Billa 2. But due to the clashes of their dates, the producer roped in Chakri Toleti. Cinematography is handled by D. Rajasekhar while Suresh Urs is in charge of the Editing.
Billa 2 is the first Indian movie to use the Epic RED camera running at its full 5K, which was recently used in James Cameron's Avatar.
Incidentally, from Bollwood shores, Sharukh Khan starrer Don 2 - The Chase Continues is also in production. Don 2 though is a sequel to Don - The Chase Begins and will release in December 2011.
