DHOOM 3 BOX OFFICE COLLECTION REPORT
“Dhoom 3 (Hindi)  set opening day records in some circuits while in others it was below either Chennai Express or Ek That Tiger. It has to be noted these films released on Eid and Independence Day respectively while Dhoom 3 released on a non-hiloliday day. The film smashed the non holiday opening record by a huge margin more than 50% for original langue if we compare apples to apples just for Hindi version. Earlier highest non holiday biggest day 1 grosser was # YJHD 19.50 cr.”

Made at a budget of Rs 150-200 crore, the film's satellite rights have been sold for a whopping Rs 65 crore. According to sources in the know, the rights have been bought by Multi Screen Media (the company that runs Sony Entertainment Television and SET Max). The channel network and the production house have enjoyed a relationship in this regards for quiet some time and most of the YRF movies are with MSM.

Apart from the hefty satellite rights fee, the production house has raked in an estimated Rs 20 crore in brand associations and merchandising deals and Rs 9 to 10 crore from music royalty earned through digital sales, television and radio airings since the music rights are held by YRF music. This amounts to revenue of Rs 89 to 90 crore before the release of the film, which means almost 90% of the cost had been recovered. Adding approximately Rs 50 crore as the producers share over the weekend, the movie would have earned YRF a profit of approximately Rs 40 crore by Monday.

The current record holder is Disney UTV and Red Chilies Entertainment's Chennai Express which raked in Rs 94 crore (excluding the Thursday paid preview).

As Dhoom 3  is all set to create history much like his earlier films - Ghajani (December 24, 2008) which garnered 114 cr(India only)  followed by that 3 Idiots (December 23, 2010) which went on to become the  first film to cross 202 cr(India only).” Dhoom 3 has potential to cross 250 cr (India only) looking at the opening it has received.
