Performance Analysis
We would like to say after Roopesh Pethambaran’s “Theevram” , DQ came back with a short tempered youth character, anyway there is no relation over here with Theevram, Dulquer Salmaan is just brilliant as Siddharth. He perfectly portrays the emotions of the character, without over-playing it. Sai Pallavi has played her role Anjali exceptionally well, even though she struggles with the Malayalam dialogues. The extraordinary on-screen chemistry between Dulquer Salmaan and Sai Pallavi is a treat to watch and the major attraction of the movie. Soubin Shahir scores with his trademark style as Prakashan. The rest of the star cast include Chemban Vinod, Vinayakan, VK Prakash, Vanitha Krishnachandran, Anjali Aneesh Upasana, etc are good in their roles.
Technical Analysis
Director Sameer Thahir has completely succeeded in executing the well-written script by Rajesh Gopinadhan, to near perfection. Rajesh has skillfully narrated a not-so-thick plot, with a neat, flawless screenplay. While the first half is colourful and lively, the second half is dark and intense. Sameer Thahir has managed to bring out the best out of his actors, thus making Kali a decent movie experience.
Gireesh Gangadharan’s cinematography is brilliant, as it creates the most appropriate backdrop for the narrative. National Award winner Vivek Harshan scores again with his fantastic editing skills.
Gopi Sundar failed to impress us with the songs. But the BGM was extraordinary, which completely goes hand-in-hand with the intense narrative pattern. Says frankly, the Gopi Sundar magic is just missing all over in it.
BottomLine
Without any lagging , the movie keeps you engaging from start to end. An above-average, visually appealing romantic thriller, with some fabulous performances.
