Mohanlal's Ladies and
Gentleman is shaping up to another mega budget movie on the lines of last
year's Casanovva.
The flick has already
garnered Siddique the distinction of being the highest paid Mollywood director,
reportedly taking home close to `more than 2 Crore crore out of the total estimated budget of
`10 crore.

Finally the wait for the most majestic
malayalam movie is over as Siddique -Mohanlal duo is gearing up to provide all
the excitement and thrills stored for the past 20 years. The much hyped movie
'Ladies and Gentleman' shouldered by Siddique will be released in more than 100
theatres including those in Chennai and Bangalore. For Mohanlal, the movie
would be the third release in 2013 after Lokpal and Red Wine.
On the other side Siddique became fame crossing all borders after the viral success of 'Body Guard'. The Salman Khan starrer movie was declared as a blockbuster making a gross collection of 230 crore. So while the super director and the great actor joins for a project after 2 decades (Vietnam Colony in 1992 directed by Siddique-Lal) the exhilaration is on the peak. With two more days left for Vishu, a prominent festival of Kerala, the whole team behind the movie put forward it as a perfect Vishu Kaineettam for all malayalis around the globe.

message about keeping positive attitude in life. From the words of director Siddique the story of 'Ladies and Gentleman' gives positive and freshness in the mind of viewers who wish that they had someone like Chandrabose (Mohanlal) in their life. The inherent graciousness of Chandrabose will move the story forward. As the younger generation is too ambitious and self-centred, they fail to win success or get shattered by the first setback in their life. But the older generation act less selfish tackle both ends with more calmness and maturity. The movie which looks through this perspective will be a fun treat for the fun loving viewers.
Produced by Anotony Perumbavoor, the movie got released on 12th April 2013. Blessed with the majestic combo of Rafeeq Ahmed and Ratheesh Vega, cinematography stood safe in the hands of Satish Kurup. Under the production house of Ashirvad Productions, the movie has been produced by Antony Perumbavoor and C J Roy. Siddique himself has handled the story and screenplay for the Rs 10 Crore budget movie. Being the most expensive malayalam movie produced in 2013, the producers have already got a profit of Rs 1.5 Crore even before its release. Even the combined for the lead actor and the director can be taken up as 2.7 crore, Rs 11. 5 crores got in return from satellite (Rs 3.5 Crore), remake and overseas rights (1 Crore).

വിയറ്റ്‌നാം കോളനിയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം അതായത് രണ്ട് ദശാബ്‌ദങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷം ഒരു ചിത്രത്തിനായ് ഒന്നിച്ച സൂപ്പര്‍ സ്റ്റാര്‍ മോഹന്‍ലാലും സംവിധായകന്‍ സിദ്ദിഖും ലേഡീസ് ആന്റ് ജെന്റില്‍മാനിലൂടെ മലയാളികള്‍ക്ക് സമ്മാനിക്കുന്നത് ഒരു സൂപ്പര്‍ വിഷു കൈനീട്ടം. ഈ കൂട്ടുക്കെട്ടില്‍ നിന്നും ലഭിച്ചത്, പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചത് പോലെ കോമഡിയും ത്രില്ലറും സസ്‌പെന്‍ഷും കൂടിച്ചേര്‍ന്ന ഒരു ജെന്റില്‍ സിനിമ എന്ന് നിസംശയം പറയാം. അഭ്രപാളികളിലെത്തുന്ന എല്ലാ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങള്‍ക്കും തുല്യ പ്രാധ്യാന്യം നല്‍കി. മോഹന്ലാല് എന്ന നടനിലെ അഭിനയമികവിനെ മികച്ച രീതിയില്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ച സിദ്ദിഖിനെ അഭിനന്ദിക്കാതിരിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയില്ല.
ആദ്യമായി ചലച്ചിത്ര ഗാനരചനാ രംഗത്തേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങിയ സല്ലാവുദ്ദീന്റെ നാടന്‍പാട്ടിലൂടെയാണ് ചിത്രം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. കൂടുതല്‍ സമയം ചിലവാക്കാതെ തന്നെ മോഹന്‍‌ലാലിനെ സ്‌ക്രീനില്‍ എത്തിക്കുകയാണ് സിദ്ദിഖ്. ആദ്യ സീനില്‍ തന്നെ സ്‌ക്രീനില്‍ എത്തുന്ന ലാല്‍ ആദ്യാവസാനം ചിത്രത്തില്‍ നിറഞ്ഞു നില്‍ക്കുന്നു. മോഹന്ലാല് തന്നെയാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ ഹൈലൈറ്റ് താരം. ലേഡീസ് ആന്റ് ജെന്റില്‍മാന്‍ ചിത്രം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് മോഹന്ലാല് സിദ്ദിഖിന് നല്‍കിയ ഒരേ ഒരു ഉറപ്പ് എന്റെ മുന്‍ കുടിയന്‍ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളുടെ ആവര്‍ത്തനം ഈ കഥാപാത്രത്തിലുണ്ടാകില്ലെന്നാണ്. ഈ വാക്ക് ലാല്‍ അക്ഷരാര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ പാലിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. അയാള്‍ കഥയെഴുതുകയാണ്, സ്‌പിരിറ്റ് എന്നീ ചിത്രങ്ങളിലെ കുടിയന്‍ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും വ്യത്യസ്‌തമായി മറ്റൊരു ജീനിയസ് കുടിയനെ തന്‍‌മയത്വത്തോടെ അവതരിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ ലാലിന് കഴിഞ്ഞു.
ചിത്രത്തില്‍ ഹാസ്യ കഥാപാത്രമായ കലാഭവന്‍ ഷാജോണ് കിട്ടിയ മികച്ച അവസരമായിരുന്നു ലാലിനൊപ്പമുള്ള മുഴുനീള കഥാപാത്രം. എന്നാല്‍ സിനിമയില്‍ മണിയെന്ന കഥാപാത്രം അവതരിപ്പിച്ച ഷാജോണിനെ വെല്ലുന്ന കോമഡി ചെയ്യാന്‍ ലാലിന് കഴിഞ്ഞുവെന്നതാണ് സിനിമയുടെ മറ്റൊരു ഹൈലൈറ്റ്. ചന്ദ്രബോസ് എന്നാണ് ചിത്രത്തില്‍ ലാല്‍ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കഥാപാത്രത്തിന്റെ പേര്. എല്ലാവരും ബോസ് എന്ന് വിളിക്കും. വിളിപ്പേര് ധ്വനിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് പോലെ തന്നെ ലാല്‍ നിരവധി പേര്‍ക്ക് ബോസാണ്. നിരവധി പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങള്‍ ശുഭാപ്‌തി വിശ്വാസത്തോടെ പരിഹരിക്കുന്ന അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ പരിഹാരത്തിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ബോസ്. മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങള്‍ ലാഘവത്തോടെ കാണുകയും അത് ഗുരുതരമാകുമ്പോള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന സാഹചര്യം പ്രേക്ഷകരില്‍ ഉണര്‍ത്തുന്ന ചിരിയും സിനിമയെ പൊലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
പ്രശ്‌ന പരിഹാരങ്ങള്‍ക്കെല്ലാം ഏഴ് ദിവസം ടാര്‍ജെറ്റ് വയ്‌ക്കുന്ന ബോസിന്റെ സംഭവ ബഹുലമായ ജീവിതവും മദ്യപാനവും, മദ്യപാനത്തിലധിഷ്‌ഠിതമായുണ്ടാകുന്ന കോമഡികളുമാണ് ചിത്രത്തെ വ്യത്യസ്‌തമാക്കുന്നത്. ചിത്രത്തില്‍ രണ്ട് മികച്ച സസ്‌പെന്‍സുകള്‍ ഉപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ സിദ്ദിഖിന് കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഒന്ന് ഇടവേളയ്‌ക്ക് തൊട്ട് മുമ്പും മറ്റൊന്ന് ക്ലൈമാക്‌സ് രംഗത്തുമാണ്. ചിത്രത്തില്‍ കോമഡി ഇല്ലാത്ത ഗൌരവ സീനുകളില്‍ നാടകീയത ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളിക്കാനും സംവിധായകന്‍ മറന്നില്ല. ലാലിന് മാത്രം പ്രാധാന്യം നല്‍കി ഒരു ചിത്രമെന്നും ഈ ചിത്രത്തെ മുദ്രകുത്താന്‍ കഴിയില്ല കാരണം നായിക കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളായ മീരാ ജാസ്‌മിന്‍, മിത്രാ കുര്യന്‍, മമത, പത്മപ്രിയ എന്നിവര്‍ക്കും യുവതാരം ക്രിഷിനും മികച്ച വേഷങ്ങളാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലുള്ളത്. അവരവരുടെ ഭാഗങ്ങള്‍ ഭംഗിയാക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. സ്‌ക്രീനില്‍ ഏറ്റവും കുറച്ചെത്തുന്നത് മീരയാണെങ്കിലും ചിത്രത്തിലുടനീളം മീരയുടെ സാന്നിധ്യം ഉണ്ട്. ശരത് എന്ന എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗ് വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥിയും പിന്നീട് ഐടി പ്രൊഫഷണലുമായ കഥാപാത്രമാണ് ക്രിഷ് അവതരിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.
മൈ ബോസില്‍ നമ്മള്‍ കണ്ട അഹങ്കാരിയായ ബോസിന്റെ മറ്റൊരു രൂപം മമത കാഴ്‌ച വയ്ക്കുന്നു. സഹോദരനെ പഠിപ്പിക്കാനായി സ്‌കൂള്‍ ടീച്ചറാകുന്ന എന്നാല്‍ എയര്‍ ഹോസ്റ്റേഴ്‌സ് മോഹമുള്ള പത്മപ്രിയ. ആത്മവിശ്വാസമുള്ളതും കുട്ടനാട്ടുക്കാരനായ പണക്കാരന്‍ അച്ഛന്റെയും മകളായി മിത്രാകുര്യനും മികവ് പുലര്‍ത്തുന്നു. മനോജ് കെ ജയന് കൂടുതല്‍ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള കഥാപാത്രമല്ലെങ്കിലും തന്റെ ചെറിയ റോള്‍ അദ്ദേഹവും നന്നാക്കി. മറ്റൊരു മികച്ച കഥാപാത്രം ലഭിച്ചത് കെ ബി ഗണേഷ്‌കുമാറിനാണ്. മമതയുടെ അച്ഛന്‍ കഥാപാത്രമായി എത്തുന്ന ഗണേഷ് മികച്ച പ്രകടനം കാഴ്‌ച വച്ചു. കഥാപാത്ര സൃഷ്‌ടികളില്‍ സിദ്ദിഖ് പുലര്‍ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്ന പെര്‍ഫെക്ഷന്‍ ചിത്രത്തെ കൂടുതല്‍ പൊലിമയുള്ളതാക്കുന്നു.
പണം കൊണ്ട് സ്‌നേഹം വാങ്ങാന്‍ കഴിയില്ല. ബിസിനസ്സ് താല്‍‌പ്പര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കും പണമുണ്ടാക്കാനും നടക്കുമ്പോള്‍ സ്വന്തം പാട്ട്‌ണറുടെ വികാരവിചാരങ്ങളില്‍ കൂടി ഇടപ്പെടുക എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിരവധി ഗുണപാഠങ്ങളും പോസിറ്റീവ് ചിന്താഗതികളും നല്‍കുന്ന ചിത്രത്തില്‍ ഒരു സൈക്കിളിനും ഒരു ഓട്ടോയ്‌ക്കുമൊക്കെ തികഞ്ഞ പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്. നാല് നടിമാരില്‍ ആരാണ് ലാലിന്റെ നായിക. ചിലപ്പോള്‍ തോന്നും മീരാ ജാസ്‌മിന്‍ ആണെന്ന് ചിലപ്പോഴൊക്കെ മമതയെയും പത്മപ്രിയയെയും സംശയിക്കും. ഞാന്‍ പേര് ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്താത്തതിനാല്‍ അത് മിത്രാകുര്യനാണോ എന്ന സംശയം ഇപ്പോള്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് തോന്നിയില്ലേ? ഞാന്‍ പറയുന്നില്ല. അത് നിങ്ങള്‍ ചിത്രം കണ്ട് തന്നെ മനസ്സിലാക്കൂ. ചിത്രം കാണുമ്പോള്‍ തന്നെ അത്തരത്തില്‍ ഒരു സസ്‌പെന്‍സ് നിലനിര്‍ത്താന്‍ സിദ്ദിഖിന് കഴിഞ്ഞു.
ചിത്രത്തിലെ സംഗീത സംവിധാനം നിര്‍വഹിച്ച രതീഷ് വേഗയെയും പ്രശംസിക്കാം. പ്രണയമേ എന്ന് തുടങ്ങുന്ന ഗാനം ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഒരു നിര്‍ണായക ഘട്ടത്തിലാണെത്തുന്നത്. അത് മികച്ചതാക്കാന്‍ വേഗയ്ക്ക്‌ കഴിഞ്ഞു. ചിത്രം ആന്റണി പെരുമ്പാവൂരിനും ആശിര്‍വാദ് സിനിമയ്ക്കും അവകാശപ്പെടാവുന്ന മറ്റൊരു ഹിറ്റാകുകയും ചെയ്യും. മലയാളികള്‍ക്ക് സിദ്ദിഖ് - ലാല്‍ കൂട്ടുക്കെട്ട് സമ്മാനിച്ച ഈ സിനിമയ്ക്ക് ലാലിന്റെ ഈ ചിത്രത്തിലെ ഡയലോഗിലൂടെ തന്നെ ഒറ്റവാക്കില്‍ അഭിപ്രായം പറയാം. സിനിമ സൂപ്പര്‍... ഇറ്റ് ഇസ് എ ജെന്റില്‍മാന്‍ പ്രോമിസ്.
Mohanlal's Ladies and Gentleman makes Rs 1.5 crore profit before release
After the mega-budget Casanovva tanked last year, producers have been a bit hesitant to invest more than a certain margin in a megastar movie. So, it's a testament of sorts to Mollywood's growing potential that the same producers - CJ Roy and Antony Perumbavoor - had invested close to Rs 10 crores in Mohanlal's forthcoming project Ladies and Gentleman and walked away with a cool profit of Rs 1.5 crore even before the film has hit the theatres.
A source close to the production team tells us, "The film directed by Siddique is already the most expensive Malayalam movie to come out this year mainly owing to the megastar's and director's remuneration which totally reached close to Rs 2.7 crore.
"However, the money was well worth it because it's only due to their market value that the film had brought in Rs 11.5 crores in satellite, remake and overseas rights."
While the margin is not much as Mohanlal and Mammootty films mostly bring in similar profit margin before the release, the major feat that has to be highlighted is that a Malayalam movie has brought in an amount over Rs 11 crore even before its release for the first time.
Another industry expert from Kerala Film Chamber, on condition of anonymity, says that director Siddique is the major factor.
"His previous films Bodyguard and Chronic Bachelor have been blockbusters. His track record has also fetched a high price in remake rights of the film that have been sold in all major languages.
"Add to that Mohanlal's contribution in overseas rights close to Rs 1 crore and satellite rights of reaching over Rs 3.5 crore. All these factors significantly contributed to the meteoric figures," he says.
With the film set to be a festival release, the initial collection would undoubtedly boost the movie's earnings and if Siddique can continue his winning run, Ladies and Gentleman would be a marquee film as far as Mollywood is concerned when it comes to big budget movies.
